1. Overview & Commitment

ወግ (Weg) - Amharic Meeting Notes ("we", "our", or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how our Chrome Extension and backend services collect, handle, and safeguard your data when transcribing and summarizing Google Meet discussions in Amharic (አማርኛ) and English.

We adhere strictly to the principle of minimal data collection. We do not sell your personal data or meeting content to third parties, advertising networks, or data brokers.

2. Data We Collect & How It Is Used

• Meeting Audio Streams: When you click "ጀምር (Start Recording)" on an active Google Meet session, the Extension captures browser tab audio using the standard Chrome tabCapture API. Audio is processed in transient, short 12-second chunks solely for the purpose of generating written transcriptions. Audio chunks are processed in-memory and are immediately discarded after transcription — we never store raw audio files on our servers.
• Transcripts & Meeting Notes: The resulting text transcripts and AI-generated executive summaries are saved directly to your local browser storage (chrome.storage.local). They remain under your exclusive control on your computer.
• User Account Information: To manage meeting hour quotas and prevent abuse, we store your email address, display name, hashed passwords (bcrypt), and meeting duration usage logs in our secured Supabase cloud database.
• Device Trial Identifier: A randomly generated anonymous device token is used to prevent automated repeated trial claiming.

3. AI & Speech-to-Text Processing

To deliver state-of-the-art Amharic speech recognition and meeting summarization, audio chunks and text snippets are processed using:

• Google Gemini 2.5 Flash API & Dataset.ET Hohe ASR models

Customer audio and meeting transcripts processed via our API are used exclusively for real-time transcription and summarization. They are never used to train public machine learning foundation models.

4. Storage & Security

All network communication between the Chrome Extension, our cloud API, and database occurs over industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3 / HTTPS). User passwords are cryptographically hashed using bcrypt with automated salting.

5. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You have total control over your meeting history. You can:

• Delete individual meetings or clear your entire meeting history at any time directly in the Extension’s "ታሪክ (History)" tab.
• Request full account and quota log deletion by contacting our privacy team at privacy@ermizamr.tech.
